When it is winter at home, Gran Canaria is close
The days are short, the mornings grey, and the coat is back on the hook by the door. In the south of Gran Canaria, this time of year feels different. Sunshine, the ocean and long walks by the sea. The south is the sunniest and most relaxed part of the island.
Playa del Inglés is a lively resort with a long sandy beach, a promenade, restaurants and bars. Right next to it lie the famous Maspalomas dunes. A walk through the golden dunes down to the ocean is an experience you will not forget.
It is not far. A direct charter flight from Ljubljana takes about 5 hours. You leave winter behind in the afternoon and by evening you are sitting by the ocean.

Five hotels, five ways to spend a winter break
For this winter we have chosen hotels in the south of the island. Each one is good for something different. Choose the one that suits you best.
Corallium Beach by Lopesan Hotels: for a romantic break for two
The hotel is adults only, from 18 years. It stands on the front line by the calm San Agustín beach, and you step straight from the hotel onto the sand. Playa del Inglés is about 3 km away. The heart of the hotel is a lush tropical garden. Most rooms have a sea view.
Spend your days between two pools, one of them heated, and two hot tubs. There is a gym, healthy activities and massages. The cuisine is based on fresh local ingredients, many of them from the hotel's own organic farm. The Mediterraneum restaurant serves Mediterranean à la carte cuisine. A walk along the shore at sunset is the perfect end to the day.

Abora Interclub Atlantic by Lopesan: for families, friends and all inclusive lovers
The hotel is part of the renowned Lopesan hotel chain. Guests give it an average rating of 4.4 out of 5. The resort lies about 5 km from the centre of Playa del Inglés, and a hotel minibus runs to the sandy beach.
This is a spacious and lively resort. Three pools are heated in winter, and the water slides run at set times. Entertainment, a disco and a varied sports programme make sure nobody gets bored. Family rooms are more spacious than standard rooms, and suites have a separate bedroom. With all inclusive you do not have to think about the bill on holiday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are buffet style, with snacks, desserts and afternoon tea in between. Selected local draught drinks are included.

Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa 5*: for indulgence at the highest level
This elegant resort stands by the Atlantic in the well kept Meloneras area. The coastal promenade and the Faro de Maspalomas lighthouse are close by, and the Maspalomas dunes are not far. The resort has six pools, including the large Lago infinity pool and the Río river pool. OM Spa by Lopesan covers about 3,500 m². You can choose between a buffet restaurant and several à la carte restaurants and bars. Live music awaits you in the evenings.

Europalace 3*: good value in the heart of the action
The hotel stands in Playa del Inglés, by the sandy beach. Only the promenade lies in between. Small shops, bars and restaurants are nearby. The hotel was partly renovated in 2025. The outdoor pool is heated in winter. Studios have a kitchenette and a balcony or terrace. Half board means buffet breakfast and dinner.

Green Field 3*: the most freedom for the least money
Green Field is in the lively centre of Playa del Inglés, just 400 metres from the beach. Shops, restaurants and bars are within walking distance. Studios have a fitted kitchen, air conditioning, free wifi and a balcony or terrace. For more space, apartments with a separate bedroom are available. Palm trees surround the outdoor pool.

About the prices
All prices are per person based on two adults sharing a room or studio. They include the flight, baggage, transfer and 7 nights. A booking fee of €25 is added to each booking. For other dates, more people or a different room type, we will gladly prepare a tailored offer.
