Slovenia & Italy: Alpine Lakes, Boutique Stays & Venice’s Adriatic Lagoon

From Slovenia’s Alpine valleys to Italy’s Adriatic lagoon

6 days / 5 nights · Private extension · From Ljubljana to Venice · Slovenia & Italy

For clients already planning a longer European journey, Slovenia offers a distinctive addition to their itinerary. This six-day private extension from Ljubljana to Venice brings together two countries and three contrasting settings: the intimate riverside atmosphere of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s lakes and mountain valleys, and the canals and piazzas of Venice.

Boutique accommodation, private transfers and guided discoveries connect the itinerary, while unstructured afternoons and evenings leave room for cafés, local food and personal exploration. The route progresses from Ljubljana through the Slovenian Alps to Venice and can be coordinated with the preceding and following stages of your clients’ European trip.

Day 1 | Ljubljana: a gentle introduction to Slovenia

The programme begins in Ljubljana, with a private transfer to the selected boutique hotel coordinated around your clients’ wider travel itinerary. The rest of the day is deliberately relaxed: time to settle in, enjoy a coffee beside the Ljubljanica and wander through the old town at their own pace. Bridges, riverside terraces and pedestrian streets make the first afternoon about enjoying the city rather than completing a sightseeing checklist. Dinner is at leisure.

Stay: two nights at Zlata Ladjica Boutique Hotel or AS Boutique Hotel, with breakfast; final selection subject to confirmation.

Day 2 | Ljubljana from the streets, the river and the castle

A half-day guided discovery reveals the capital through several perspectives. From Prešeren Square and the Triple Bridge, the route continues through the Central Market area, Town Square and the riverfront, with stories that give context to the city’s architecture and daily life.

A Ljubljanica boat cruise changes the viewpoint: bridges and riverside buildings unfold from the water. A funicular ride and castle visit then open up views over the city. The afternoon remains free for lunch, independent shopping or another leisurely riverside stop, with no scheduled evening programme.

Day 3 | Bled, Vintgar and the road into the Alps

With luggage travelling in the private vehicle, the journey continues towards Bled. A walk through Vintgar Gorge follows its visitor route through a striking landscape of river, rock and greenery. Timed admission, access and pick-up arrangements are coordinated in advance.

At Lake Bled, there is time to pause by the water and enjoy lunch independently. A traditional pletna boat takes clients to Bled Island, while Bled Castle provides a different perspective from above the lake. The order of visits is adapted to weather and the confirmed gorge entry time.

Late in the afternoon, continue to Jezersko and check in at Vila Planinka. Dinner at the hotel marks the transition from a full sightseeing day to a quieter Alpine stay.

Stay: two nights at Vila Planinka in a Superior Room with Balcony, with half board, subject to availability.

Day 4 | Jezersko: time to enjoy the mountain valley

This day allows the Alpine surroundings to become an experience in their own right. A guided e-bike outing explores the valley at a pace and on a route suited to the guests’ ability and local conditions. There is time for lunch at leisure, a gentle outing to the lake area or simply a quiet afternoon at the hotel.

After dinner at Vila Planinka, a guided night walk offers a different encounter with the valley under the stars, when clear skies, weather and guide availability permit. The emphasis is on an enjoyable outdoor experience, not a demanding sporting programme.

Day 5 | From Slovenia’s Alps to Venice’s Adriatic lagoon

An early departure and private road transfer carry clients from the mountain landscape into northern Italy. After hotel and luggage arrangements, the afternoon is devoted to a guided walking discovery of Venice: St Mark’s Square, the Rialto area and views of the canals.

The contrast is part of the appeal. After the open landscapes of Jezersko, Venice offers narrow lanes, waterside façades and lively squares. The evening is free for dinner and a final stroll at the guests’ own pace.

Stay: one night at a selected hotel in the Venice area. Historic-centre or mainland location, room category, meal plan and any necessary water transfers are confirmed with the final quotation.

Day 6 | Continue your European journey

After the final night in the Venice area, your clients continue to the next stage of their European journey. Onward connections and any private road or water transfers will be coordinated with their wider itinerary and specified in the final quotation. Breakfast depends on the selected hotel’s meal plan and the onward travel schedule.

Indicative price: €2,015 per person

Based on four adults sharing double rooms. This is an indicative reference price for planning, not a confirmed quotation for the revised programme. The final price will be recalculated once travel dates, room arrangements, the Venice hotel and transport services are confirmed.

The planned land programme combines five nights’ accommodation, breakfast in Ljubljana, half board at Vila Planinka, private transfers, guided Ljubljana sightseeing with a river cruise and castle visit, the Bled and Vintgar experiences, guided activities in Jezersko and a walking tour of Venice.

Flights, tourist taxes, meals and drinks not expressly included, Venice monument admissions, Bled Island church entry and gondola rides are not included. A booking and itinerary-preparation fee of €25 applies per booking.

Two countries, one coordinated private journey

This route is a strong option for couples, friends and small private parties looking to enrich a longer European itinerary with Slovenia and a natural continuation into northern Italy. It combines culture, light activity, boutique hospitality and time outdoors, moving from Slovenia’s capital and Alps to Italy’s Adriatic lagoon without changing hotels every night.

Longevity Travel, your Slovenia-based DMC partner, can adapt this extension to your clients’ dates, interests and preferred pace, and coordinate it with the rest of their European itinerary.
