here are getaways from which we return rested. And there are journeys from which we return slightly transformed.
The Tenerife Retreat is designed for those who seek more than just a sun lounger, a standard hotel, and a generic itinerary. It is curated for those drawn to the outdoors: into the landscapes, the nature, the crisp morning air, the stillness, the conversation, and the movement. For everyone who wishes to experience Tenerife at a slower, more authentic, and deeply personal pace.
This is not a grueling sports week. It is not a yoga program focused on flawless postures. And it is certainly not a conventional holiday where days slip away between breakfast, the beach, and dinner. This is a week where your rhythm shifts completely. In the morning, the body awakens with yoga. Throughout the day, you discover the island through its paths, vistas, hidden villages, and natural parks. In the evening, the day winds down with yin yoga, exceptional food, and the profound feeling that you have finally given yourself some space.
The retreat takes place from January 29 to February 5, 2027. Seven nights and eight days in Tenerife, at a time when winter still holds sway at home, while the Canary Islands are already bathing in more light, warmth, and open skies.
Why Tenerife — If You Wish to Experience It Differently
Tenerife is frequently portrayed as an island of sun, beaches, and holiday resorts. All of that exists. Yet, Tenerife possesses another side—one far more captivating for those who seek not just comfort, but a true sense of place.
This is an island of volcanic energy, jagged ridges, deep gorges, pine and laurel forests, oceanic vistas, and villages where life still unfolds at a gentler pace. Rising from the center of the island is Teide, Spain’s highest peak, surrounded by a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. Lava, stone, light, and silence. A space like this effortlessly shifts you away from everyday thoughts and roots you into something more fundamental.
Then there is Anaga—greener, softer, and wilder. Teno—more remote and pristine. The ocean coastline, where walking along the water is not merely a stroll, but a way to clear the mind. Local paths, smaller villages, and panoramic views that you simply cannot experience from a tour bus or a hotel terrace.
Tenerife’s striking contrasts make it the perfect setting for a retreat. It is warm enough to escape the winter, diverse enough to offer a new impression each day, and natural enough to soothe you into a state of deep calm rather than constantly demanding your attention.
A Retreat for Those Who Love Movement, Not Competition
The program is created for individuals who appreciate yoga, hiking, exploration, and nature, but are not looking for an intense athletic challenge. The focus is never on proving how much you can endure. The focus is on moving, breathing, walking, observing, and simply being present.
Hikes typically last about 3 to 4 hours. They are moderately paced, and the choice of trails is flexibly adapted to the weather, the mood of the group, the energy of the participants, and the guide’s assessment after the initial hike. This is crucial. A great retreat never forces everyone into the exact same tempo; it listens to the group.
Potential locations for hikes and excursions include the surroundings of Mount Teide, Anaga Rural Park, Teno Rural Park, local paths surrounding the finca, walks from the nearby village, coastal trails, and, if desired, a visit to La Orotava, the island’s historic capital.
This is Tenerife experienced with your feet. Not just through photographs.
Yoga Twice a Day: To Energize and to Ground
Each day features two dedicated yoga practices.
In the morning, the schedule features a dynamic Vinyasa yoga session, designed to awaken the body, elevate energy, and restore vitality. This morning practice sets the tone for the day—not aggressively or forcefully, but as a clear, mindful beginning: the body moves, the breath deepens, and the day opens up.
In the late afternoon or evening, we transition into Yin yoga—a slower, deeper, and profoundly restorative practice. It is dedicated to regeneration, stillness, and inner balance. Grounded in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the meridian system, this Yin practice goes beyond mere stretching; it is a subtle exploration of sensation, tension, awareness, and internal rhythm.
The sessions do not demand physical perfection. It does not matter how flexible you are, nor how long you have been practicing yoga. What matters is that you arrive with openness—allowing yourself to feel your body without pressure, stepping away for a few days from the notion that everything must be efficient, measurable, and flawless.
The retreat is led by Marzena, a certified yoga teacher, nutritional consultant specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the owner of Casa del Cielo. Her work focuses on the energetic balance of body, mind, and soul, helping you reconnect with your true self.
Casa del Cielo: A Home Beneath the Heavens
Our sanctuary for the week is the Casa del Cielo finca, nestled near the village of Tijoco Alto. The name translates to "A Home Beneath the Heavens," and in this space, it is far more than just a beautiful phrase.
The finca sits elegantly on a mountain slope, approximately 1,050 meters above sea level, offering unobstructed, panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by raw nature, dramatic mountains, pine forests, and views facing Mount Teide, it is sufficiently remote to offer absolute peace, yet perfectly positioned for exploring the island.
The estate features a large, open-concept kitchen and dining area, a wooden terrace, a swimming pool, a pergola with a grand dining table, and a glass-walled yoga shala with wooden flooring. This is a place where the day does not begin with an elevator ride or a hotel corridor, but with fresh air, natural light, and an endless horizon.
Yoga takes place in harmony with the natural environment, accompanied by birdsong, ocean views, and sunsets. All essential yoga props are provided (mats, blocks, and straps). Guests only need to bring comfortable clothing and a willingness to embrace a beautifully different week.
Casa del Cielo is an essential part of the experience, not just a place to stay.
Nourishment That Sustains the Week Without Burdening the Body
The retreat includes three wholesome, high-quality meals per day. The cuisine is strictly vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free—crafted from fresh, local ingredients, homemade, unrefined, and prepared entirely from scratch.
This is not food attempting to follow a trend; it is designed to cultivate energy, lightness, and a sense of well-being throughout the week. The menus merge the time-tested principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with contemporary nutritional science.
The itinerary also includes a collaborative cooking masterclass where you will learn to prepare a traditional Spanish vegetarian or vegan paella. This is a beautiful highlight of the retreat, seamlessly connecting food, local inspiration, and the community. On journeys like this, it is often the simplest moments that linger longest in memory: the shared table, the conversation after a long hike, the aroma of fresh food, and the serene evening stillness.
An Intimate Group and a Personal Approach
One of the greatest values of this retreat is the limited group size. An experience like this loses its essence if it becomes too large, too loud, or too institutional. Its true power lies in its intimacy.
A small group allows for a natural, unhurried flow. Trails can be effortlessly tailored, deeper conversations happen organically, and sharing moments of silence feels completely comfortable. It allows you to feel that you are not merely part of a mass-market program, but a collective of individuals who arrived with a shared intention: to pause, recalibrate, and experience a week differently.
This is a retreat for those for whom "disconnecting" means more than just turning off a phone—it means a conscious shift in environment, nourishment, movement, thought, and pace.
Who Is This Retreat For?
This week is perfectly suited for anyone seeking an active, yet beautifully balanced escape. It is for those who love nature but do not require extremes; for those intrigued by yoga, even if they are not seasoned practitioners; and for anyone who wishes to experience Tenerife through a local, greener, more volcanic, and less commercial lens.
It welcomingly accommodates solo travelers, friends, couples, or small groups of relatives who wish to share a transformative experience together. Its value extends beyond the week itself: it offers a sanctuary for renewal, mindful movement, connection with nature, and the realization that a journey can be far more than a mere change of location.
If you are drawn to hiking, yoga, exceptional plant-based cuisine, serene locations, authentic local living, and a sense of community, then this is the Tenerife that conventional holidays often miss.
What It Means to Experience "A Beautifully Different Week"
A beautifully different week means refusing to rush from one tourist attraction to the next.
It means taking a moment to simply breathe every morning. Noticing how your body truly feels. Embarking on paths that are not just sightseeing routes, but immersive experiences of a space. Eating food prepared with your vitality in mind. It means that in the evening, instead of wondering what you might have missed, you reflect on what you truly felt that day.
A beautifully different week means that a journey is not just a hiatus from work. It is a profound shift in rhythm. It is an opportunity for the body to move, the mind to settle, and the soul to claim a little more space.
In Tenerife, this happens effortlessly. The island guides you. The ocean helps. Mount Teide helps. And the quietude of the finca does, too.
