When winter weather brings the golf season at home to a halt, play continues in the south of Tenerife. Temperatures are pleasant, the days are ideal for outdoor play, and the courses remain open all year round. Instead of waiting weeks for better weather, you could be enjoying five varied rounds, views of the Atlantic and an evening on the terrace in short sleeves.

For winter 2026/27, Longevity Travel has created a programme combining three of the most interesting courses in the south and west of Tenerife: Golf Las Américas, Golf Costa Adeje and the prestigious Abama Golf.

The programme is based on a seven-night stay at Gara Suites Golf & Spa**** and includes a direct return flight from Ljubljana. Under the current programme, direct departures are available until 19 March 2027.

Three courses and enough variety for the entire week

Two rounds on the same course are not repetitive. On your second round, you already know the layout, the hazards and the character of the greens. That is often when the real game begins: more considered club selection, fewer surprises and an opportunity to improve on your first day's score.

Abama is the programme's premium finale. It is a course that most golfers remember long after returning home.

Golf Las Américas: your home course right beside the hotel

Gara Suites Golf & Spa is located directly beside Golf Las Américas, approximately 200 metres from the clubhouse. This means there is no need for lengthy morning logistics for your first two rounds. After breakfast, you can be on the course in no time.

Golf Las Américas is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring approximately 6,051 metres. It is laid out in a gentle valley near Playa de las Américas, and its location partly shelters it from stronger winds.

The course is green and well maintained, with palms, water hazards, channels and flowering shrubs lining the fairways. The layout is forgiving enough for recreational players to enjoy, but the water and well-positioned bunkers quickly punish overly ambitious play.

The first round is about getting to know the course. By the second, you already know where it is better to leave the driver in the bag and play a little more thoughtfully.

Golf Costa Adeje: former plantation terraces and views of La Gomera

Golf Costa Adeje has a completely different character. Designer Pepe Gancedo preserved the terraces and stone walls of the former banana plantations when creating the course. The result is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course with wide fairways, white-sand bunkers and sweeping views of the Atlantic, the mountains and the neighbouring island of La Gomera.

The terrain demands good judgement of distance. The ball may land on a different level from the one you see from the tee, while stone walls and natural ravines influence your choice of line.

Golf Costa Adeje has hosted several international tournaments in the past, including European Tour events. Even so, it is not intended solely for competitive players. The wide fairways provide ample room, while the real challenge becomes apparent on approaches to the greens.

The two included rounds are therefore very welcome. The first time, you will admire the views and get to know the unusual terraced layout; the second, you will be able to play far more tactically.

Abama Golf: the round that brings you back to Tenerife

Abama Golf is the premium highlight of this programme. The course was designed by Dave Thomas, the creator of numerous acclaimed European courses. The 18-hole, par-72 championship layout rises along Tenerife's western slopes.

The course features 22 lakes, several waterfalls, white-sand bunkers and more than 300 species of subtropical plants. Views of the Atlantic and La Gomera open up from almost every hole.

Abama is not a course where it pays to attack every flag. Changes in elevation, water and carefully positioned bunkers demand sound club selection and a little patience. At the same time, the layout is so picturesque that a poor shot is soon forgotten.

This is a round for golfers who want to add one truly special experience to their winter break.

Why is the south of Tenerife so well suited to winter golf?

Tenerife enjoys a mild climate throughout the year. The island's official tourism organisation cites average temperatures ranging from approximately 17 °C in winter to 25 °C during the warmer part of the year. The south of the island is generally drier and sunnier than the north.

Golf Costa Adeje reports an average annual temperature of around 22 °C for its location. Of course, the weather cannot be guaranteed, but the prospects for enjoyable winter golf are considerably better than in Central Europe.

It is also important for golfers that the summer heat is not as intense. Winter temperatures are ideal for walking the course, while after a round there is still enough energy for lunch, the spa, a stroll along the coast or an evening in Playa de las Américas.

Gara Suites Golf & Spa****: a practical base for golfers

Gara Suites Golf & Spa is set in the heart of Golf Las Américas and only approximately 200 metres from its clubhouse. This is its greatest advantage: the first two rounds are almost on the hotel's doorstep.

Accommodation is provided in a Garden Suite or a Pool View Suite. The spacious units are also suitable for longer stays, while guests have access to swimming pools, a fitness centre and a spa with a thermal area covering more than 900 m².

After your round, you can return to the hotel, leave your equipment and spend the afternoon by the pool or in the spa. The livelier areas of Playa de las Américas, its restaurants and the coast are only a short drive away.

The standard package includes breakfast. Guests seeking extra comfort and dinner at the hotel after golf can upgrade to half board.

Winter can be the start of a new golf season

This programme is intended for golfers who do not want to spend seven days playing a single course. In one week, you will discover three distinct layouts: the inviting, verdant Golf Las Américas, the terraced Golf Costa Adeje and the technically and visually exceptional Abama Golf.

A further advantage is the direct flight from Ljubljana. With no connections and transport of golf clubs included, the journey is considerably simpler than you might expect for a winter golf break.
